The sun had reached its peak only a short while ago; being greenleaf, it fell slowly, and the weather was hot and dry. Twolegs may be nuisances, but their odd structures frequently provided shelter from the elements; besides that, their filthiness often attracted rats and mice. Their lands, if traded carefully and mapped well, could provide for very fruitful hunting. Silluna, a silver marbled tabby she-cat, knew these lands like she knew the claws on her feet.
As she strode alongside a tall wooden fence, her belly swung from the fresh-kill she had easily caught and killed in the dark space beneath a Twoleg's nest. Now, the she-cat made her way to the lovely pond in the center of this Twolegplace. The pond was surrounded by a small amount of grass, shrubbery, and small ledges that Twolegs often sat upon during the day. Silluna knew the schedule of the Twolegs in this neighborhood very well; the Twoleg kits had already left to play in the water not far from Twolegplace, and their parents would likely be elsewhere until nearly sun-down.
That left the pond - a fresh source of water - and the park - a peaceful place to relax - open for Silluna to safely cat-nap after her filling meal. The she-cat padded into the small park and towards the pond. She slowed when she reached it, leaning down to lap some water up before padding off towards some bushes to climb inside for a nap. However, she scent of an unfamiliar cat caught her nose, and her fur prickled with awareness of another presence.
"Come out now," the she-cat said in a cool, level voice, "or I will drag you out."

Otto had just been trotting towards The Pond to get a drink of water. He had just awaken from a nap and had been coming back to gets some water and head back to the abandon cabin to go hunt around SkyClan's grounds. He had been working on his hunting and fighting skills but was quite bad at them considering he was self-taught and wasn't really good at learning from others. So he often taught himself life-lessons and whatnot, which wasn't always useful, but it was easy since it involved no interaction with other cats, but sharing a cabin and going outside to get some water and food did. And while he was quite bad at talking, when he did come to fighting-terms, he actually never stopped. Otto went on and on and on until, of course, somebody shut him up.
It wasn't long before he found himself imbibing the fresh water from the pond. He enjoyed the peace and quiet, along with the sounds of crickets chirping loudly and frogs barking and croaking in the distance. He enjoyed just laying down in the ripped blankets in his cabin bed and hearing them speak until morning when he would hear the sweet songs of the surrounding birds, which he liked as a wake up call.
Otto's scent was horrible at detecting things, he had rather bad hearing as well. The young male had a hard time surviving which was mostly why he had become part of a group that kept him safe, but never really taught him much, which was why he learned from himself. You could only imagine how well he had done before he had joined his current group, which was pretty bad since when he had been found he was in a vile state. Otto had been starved, dehydrated, and quite dirty. He had left his parents at a kits age, wandering off into the wild and finding things to explore, not at all focusing on his life's current state. He had never been taught to defend himself, let alone care for himself at all. Which he had needed when he had heard a stranger call out to him when he had found himself next to the pond looking up at the sky, his tail dragging on the ground in a side-to-side motion. The male turned his head and unsheathed his claws, moving over to a bush that he had presumed he heard the voice from. "You won't get any win worth your time if you do, she-cat." Otto hissed, deciphering a females voice while he Thin closer to the new stranger.

Silluna paused to listen to the voice which responded to her. She hesitated. That is certainly not a full-grown cat, she realized. She snorted and replied with an icy sneer, "It's certainly not satisfying to battle a kit like you, you're correct." The silvery she-cat considered her options, then turned her back on the bush, her ears still angled towards the other cat to listen to it as she padded towards the pond for water now. It was a possibility that this stranger was not a kit, just a cat with a young voice, and so she knew she couldn't drop her guard completely. However, the wind shifted to bring the scent of the newcomer to her nostrils. Definitely young, definitely a tom, and a little dirty.

Otto turned to the she-cat, who at least sounded like a she-cat. The cat often jumped to assumptions but knew that he had to at least hide them the best way possible, which being completely isolated from the rest of his fellow felines, wasn't very good. So Otto tried to stay quiet, but his mouth opened without any approval from himself. "You can't take back a thickheaded sentence..." Otto whispered, hoping the she-cat couldn't hear him, but telling from the fact that she could tell that Otto was a male and a kit, the young tom wasn't doubting her too much.
"You know," Otto started, "I feel like names should be told, enemy or not." The tom stated, trying to reveal himself through the thick darkness that hid him well. His shiny silver pelt almost looked like the moon itself, but the unilluminated touch of the toms fur gave it away. "Let's not play dress-up between the two of us." Otto mewed, prompting for an answer that he had been planning for.

Silluna crouched beside the pond, listening to the young tom's soft muttering from somewhere in the bushes. The marbled she-cat flicked her tabby tail and said nothing in response, simply leaning down to lap at the water for a few moments. The coolness in the warm greenleaf air almost made her purr. She then turned to look over her shoulder at the bush where the young tom was, spotting his silver coat sticking out amidst the dark green. Her whiskers twitched. Did he know she could see him?
When he demanded her name, she chuckled softly. "I owe you nothing, kit," she said, now using kit like an insult, though her tone contained no real throat to it. "But I'm in a good mood. Maybe if you tell me your name and come out in the open, I'll change my mind."

Otto thought about the she-cats words, hearing her tone when she spoke to him about his age, almost using it as a name for the unknown tom. "I suppose my name has no meaning anymore, and it didn't at the start, either." The young tom mewed, looking to the ground as he awkwardly spoke his words. "My name is Otto, and my story is nothing." He hissed, meaning the hostility to be directed towards himself, not to the she-cat. Otto hoped the female would understand what his signals in his noticeably different timbre.
The male looked towards the other she-cat who looked somewhat like him. "Now you." Otto mewed, obviously trying to act mature but instead coming out as a bad imitation of a strong feline.

Silluna watched the young tabby tom, now exposed from the bush, and listened to his bitter introduction. Her ears pricked; Otto seemed rather young to be on his own, and he certainly didn't seem well cared for. He was thin and awkward. Silluna realized the young tom was not a threat - not yet, anyways. And why make an enemy when you can make an ally and gather some information? Young cats loved to chat, didn't they? "Otto," Silluna repeated, dodging his command with a dry chuckle.
The marbled tabby looked over the young rogue before her. "Well, Otto, it's not very safe for young, untrained cats like yourself to be wandering around." Her icy eyes flashed as she said coolly, "You never know when you may run into an unsavory character." Silluna continued to eye him for a moment before saying, "I'm Silluna, and I didn't ask for your story. I hope you aren't expecting mine."

"You'll need my story if you want me to answer your second answer." Otto mewed, his eyes droopy in a grumpy way. He understood that the possibility of becoming friends with this she-cat was possible, but he knew that his mind couldn't imagine being in a group with another cat. He had been by himself for almost his whole life and wasn't totally ready to give into this older Silluna who he just met. "Would you consider myself safe if I had no one to go back to?" Otto answered, feeling like he was finally opening up to Silluna.
Otto began to move closer to the she-cat, sitting down next to her, but still from a small distance. "My parents abused me so I ran off to Clan territory where I hoped to seek some help but didn't get any. Being a clan member wasn't something I was ready for, nor did I feel like I would succeed." The tom explained, looking down and pawing at the cement that had been poured down to form a smooth path that other living things could walk upon. "I Thin down to the cabin that had been abandoned a while ago, it's in SkyClan's territory." Otto mewed, "I had to learn things by myself, so that why I'm not too good at socializing, fighting, and hunting." The mouth of the silvery tom opened as he mewed quietly once more, hoping that the she-cat could give him some storytelling as well. "I've been living down there for a few moons and have had to run out for water and food, mostly not successful."

Silluna eyed the young tom; it seemed that she wouldn't be getting away without an earful today, would she? Kits sure do love to talk... However, her interest was piqued when he said he had no one to go back to. It made sense, then, why he was out wandering around if he had nowhere to return to and no one watching out for him. She ignored the twinge of pity she felt for the tabby tom, simply listening as he scooted a little closer to tell his story. She began to groom herself, swiping her tongue across her chest and down her body as he spoke. Her face betrayed none of the interest that she felt in Otto now.
Otto had been abused, then scurried to the Clans for help. Silluna wasn't surprised that they hadn't helped him; they were selfish, greedy, and arrogant. They thought they owned the forest and that no other creatures could lay claim to it. The tip of her tabby tail twitched with annoyance, and she pinned it beneath her paw to wash that with her tongue as well. Her icy blue eyes glanced at Otto as he mentioned he had made a home in SkyClan's territory, but she went on washing without a word.
If I didn't know any better, she thought, her whiskers twitching, I'd think this little furball is trying to drum up a little sympathy from me. Silluna wondered if she ought to humor him as he implored her for her own tale; however, she simply stood and strode past Otto, flicking her tail across his shoulder and meowing, "Come, Otto. Let's take a walk." She headed towards Twolegplace, aiming for a narrow alley which opened into a large yard of a Twoleg's nest which always had mice. Silluna did not wait to see if the tom was following her.

Otto sat on the ground for a moment, not really understanding what he said that got Silluna to take him on a walk, perhaps she felt bad? No, she couldn't! Moments ago she had just been threatening to drag him out of the darkness and now she was being friendly? Gotta take what you can get, I guess..., Otto thought as he stood up and padded towards Silluna, hoping for her to share something like her story since the tom had been craving a little bit of talking from the female.
"So," The younger male started, trying to get some conversation going. "why did you exactly come to be so friendly?" Otto asked, picturing himself with a puzzled and curious look, not really seeming to think of it looking slightly stupid, even though it was.

The ungraceful plodding of the young tom behind her let Silluna know that Otto was following. The marbled tabby she-cat considered her options. She was interested to know that Otto had made himself a shelter in SkyClan territory; the fact that the Clan had not discovered yet was curious and exciting to Silluna. His nest must be rich with prey, even if he can't catch it, she mused to herself as she padded along. Perhaps it would be in my interest to befriend him. However, when the young tom began to speak and asked about her, she felt her fur prickle with annoyance. He may be ready to share his life story with her, but she wasn't ready to share with him.
Silluna replied coolly, "I'm not friendly - you aren't a threat, and there's no point making enemies. That's all." She picked up her pace, seeing the tall, pale wooden fence at the end of the alley which separated the large yard from the alleyway. Silluna padded to the base of it, crouched, and leaped gracefully up to the top of the fence, her fur glinting in the sunlight. She looked down at Otto. "Can you make this jump?" She looked down at him with her cool eyes, tail twitching. She was ready to get hunting, and she could hear that the poorly maintained yard was rich with life today.

"Can you?" The tom snorted, laughing at his rude joke cruelly. Otto nodded, leaning himself close to the ground and launching himself into the air, slipping the slightest bit when he reached the top.
Otto then leaped down, hoping to not have done it too loudly. The area seemed quiet and the loud and obnoxious tom was aware that he might scare that peacefulness away if he were to open his mouth and blab on and on about that prey that he last caught a day or so ago. The male had been starving, his stomach had been growling for a mouse or maybe a squirrel, which wasn't something he got every hour of the day.

Silluna fought the urge to roll her eyes as the tom made a smart remark. If he were my kit and he talked to me like that, she thought tartly, I'd shred his ears for being so insolent. However, Otto wasn't her kit; from the sounds of it, he was no one's kit, and while it didn't excuse his behavior it certainly did explain it. She watched in calm silence as the tom leaped to the top of the fence, scrabbling near the top. She made no move to help him, and in any case he didn't need it.
Silluna eyed him carefully for a moment, then asked, "You said no one taught you to hunt, is that correct?" Out of the corner of her eye, the she-cat spotted movement in the corner of her eye. A small bird was hopping underneath a thick bush, pecking at grasses and moss to collect the bugs from them. She considered leaping for it, but there would be plenty of time for that. She looked back at Otto to wait for his answer. C2LogIL2

Otto nodded, his cruel smile ticking to the side of his face, a thinking position is mostly what it would look like to other cats. "That's right, no one but myself." The tom mewed, somewhat proud of the work he had been putting into for moons just to be able to catch a mouse or maybe a bird every few days. Otto didn't starve himself, he wasn't in rich territory nor was he good at hunting, which was the main reasons he had to travel miles to get to the places that made him survive the most, which often could be very dangerous for a young tom with basically zero skills in fighting.
"Fighting isn't a strength for me as well." Otto mewed, "As much as I joke around when in serious fights, the truth is I would have no chance if you actually attacked me." The tom explained, "But you're smart, so you'd already know that from the looks of my strength on the outside." Otto had been quite interested in this females story, but it was clear she was probably trying to slow down the conversation of the two from bringing up such a personal topic.

Silluna had to stop herself from cuffing the tom over the ear when he admitted he wasn't a good fighter. What a mouse-brained display of weakness. She couldn't deny that it wasn't difficult to tell, though; he was scrawny and small. Otto posed no threat in the first place or else Silluna would never have gone along with him that far. Instead of assaulting him, however, she warned in a low growl, "You're gonna get yourself skinned if you go telling strange cats that you can't fight well." She sat tall and proud on the fence, her tabby tail swaying to keep her balanced. "Present what you wish to be, and you will become it."
Silluna paused for a moment, wondering if she was being too kind to this little stray. What did it matter to her if he knew how to hunt, fight, or even just socialize? It wasn't the rogue's problem. Still, she couldn't bring herself to abandon him. After a moment of silence, she looked back to the bush. The bird had hopped a tail-length away from the edge of the bush. Silluna found herself instinctively lowering her body, though she would need to have a bit of luck on her side.
She flicked her tail and murmured, "Hold still and watch my movements." Slowly Silluna lowered her front legs down the fence, stretching out as far as she could before letting the rest of her body slide soundlessly onto the grassy ground beneath. Silluna caught herself on light paws, keeping her belly lifted off the grass while she crouched low. Each paw stretched out swiftly and silently, her weight balanced evenly between all four, as she approached the bird swiftly. She sprang the instant it recognized danger, but by then it was too late.
Silluna hooked a silver claw into the bird's back and dragged it down from the sky. Through the flurry of panicked flapping she found its neck and ended its life between her teeth. She kept her paw on the bird as she turned her cold blue eyes onto Otto. "What did you notice?" uAfObqsy
