((OOC: Calling leaf (deputy) and all of WindClan!))
- Appleshine raced into camp, his normally sleek dark tabby fur bushed out as he yowled breathlessly, "Kestrelfang is dead! Rogues!" Appleshine's breath caught raggedly in his throat as he heard rustling behind him; he whipped around to feel his stomach knotting, heart sinking once more as he saw Brackenstar emerge from the gorse tunnel, dragging the limp, dark-furred body of Kestrelfang into camp with him. Appleshine choked back a sob. He had trained with Kestrelfang... they had been apprentices together. How could this have happened to him? It didn't even look like he'd had the chance to fight; it didn't look like there was a fight at all. Just death.
Brackenstar gently laid the body of Kestrelfang to one side of camp, underneath an overhang of gorse which shaded the dusty body. The WindClan leader gazed, grief-stricken, at the body. It was already cool; it must have been several hours since he had been killed. Brackenstar fought back the guilt that perhaps he could have, should have, known what may happen and done something. The truth was that not even StarClan knew everything. Brackenstar forced himself to stand up straight and looked out over his gathered Clan, observing their horrified and frightened expressions. "WindClan has lost a promising young warrior today," he called, his gravelly voice a bit strained. "There was scent of rogues by his body, and on his throat wound. He was killed quickly, but without mercy..." Brackenstar trailed off and shook his head, then straightened up again.
"I already have a patrol trying to track the rogue," Brackenstar went on. "When the rogue is found they will be brought to justice for Kestrelfang's murder." The WindClan leader then made his way to the Tallrock and leaped up, trying hard not to think of how small Kestralfang's body looked now in a muddled heap of bloodstained fur. Now he would be addressing the Clan properly. "We cannot risk another incident like this again - innocent blood was wrongly spilled. From now on, apprentices are not allowed outside of camp unless they are accompanied by a warrior. Whenever possible, I want warriors to go out in pairs. There will be no solo hunting until we get to the bottom of this." He scanned the crowd for his deputy, Sorrelcloud. "I want to double the border patrols as well. The rogue smelled of ThunderClan territory; we believe they passed through the Clan's territory, perhaps not peacefully if they did this to Kestrelfang."
Brackenstar gazed over his Clan again. "Be vigilant, WindClan," he called. "The forest has been dark with blood, but we are the Clan of the moor; we will survive, if we have faith in our Clan and the warrior code."
