Badgerstar walked through the bushes of where his territory ended, he had gone on a small patrol with Ferretheart to show the new mentor exactly where to go and train. He had been trying to tell her what to do around the Thunderpath with Mousepaw to verify she knew what the strange thing was. He had to make sure the the apprentice knew everything about being a warrior and training well. It was a fear for Badgerstar that the small cat would betray their clan to ShadowClan, which was obviously still in a large fight with ThunderClan. As much as the leader hated wars, he knew that ShadowClan would be on him every second for his Clans moves. So, at the moment, ThunderClan wasn't going to be bringing in loners.
Ferretheart Thin along with Badgerstar as he explained to her what she was to do with Mousepaw during training. He had been in the middle of explaining to Ferretheart that there was a war that needed to be taught about to Mousepaw. When Ferretheart spotted a WindClan patrol behind Badgerstar. "A WindClan patrol!" she pointed out, hoping to not surge any attention from the other crowd.
OOC: Decided to bring Ferretshine along for the heck of it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Brackenstar's golden-brown coat blended well with the tall yellow grasses and thick shrubs that grew near the edges of the Thunderpath. The leader's small patrol of two Warriors and an Apprentice made their way along the side of the bushes opposite the Thunderpath, senses on high alert; the Thunderpath was an incredibly dangerous place, but not just for the monsters that zoomed across it at all hours.
The Thunderpath's acrid scent was good at hiding the scents of the surroundings, including other cats - friendly or not. Brackenstar could discern his Clanmates, certainly, but as they walked towards Fourtrees along the border they couldn't determine much else without thorough inspection. When they neared the corner, Brackenstar lifted his tan tail, alerting his patrol to stop. His ears perked and he stared down the Thunderpath; coming up towards them was a ThunderClan patrol.
'Badgerstar is with them,' Brackenstar thought, mildly surprised. 'It is unusual to see not only a ThunderClan patrol but a leader this close to our border.' "Let's keep moving, but keep an eye on that patrol," he instructed his patrol, keeping his tail up as he began moving and stepping a little more cautiously now. "I'm not expecting trouble, and I don't plan on making any, but let's not be caught off guard."

Badgerstar look around, seeing what Ferretheart had pointed out. Signaled her to go back to camp, hoping that this would be easy and not a fight. Badgerstar looked at Brackenstar, it had been awhile since they had last spoke, but deep down Badgerstar knew that the two would never fight.
Badgerstar made his way over to Brackenstar, looking calm and relaxed, almost like he knew what he was doing. The tom stopped when he reached the first edge of the Thunderpath. He stood strong as he began to call out to WindClan's leader, "Brackenstar! I need to talk to you." the large male called. He knew it was odd, being he wasn't at all defensive towards the patrol when he should of been. But he wasn't worried about getting a few scratches from WindClan, it was ShadowClan that concerned him.

The patrol continued along in the direction of the ThunderClan patrol quietly, trying to keep calm and casual but admittedly watching the other cats little closely. Brackenstar felt uncertain about seeing the other patrol so close, and his uncertainty was increased when the ThunderClan leader sent his Warrior away. Brackenstar continued walking, drawing nearer to the leader by the second. 'This isn't going to be a fight,' the tom thought, certain now.
Badgerstar's familiar voice called over the Thunderpath towards Brackenstar, and the brown tom stopped his WindClan patrol once again. Brackenstar's brow furrowed as he looked across the dangerous black surface towards the other tom. He replied, "This is not a safe place to exchange pleasantries. I won't risk anyone's safety for a chat." The WindClan leader flicked his tail towards Fourtrees and said, "Let us talk in a safer location. I will send my patrol along and then join you there."
Brackenstar's patrol exchanged uncertain glances, but the leader looked back at them, nodding in confidence. "I will return by sun-fall." Brackenstar then looked back towards Badgerstar to ensure that this would be acceptable.

OOC: I'll move the topic ;)
IC: Badgerstar Thin to Fourtrees, planning what to say to Brackenstar and hoping to not sound too desperate. It was a simple task to say what he needed, but the deal was greatly hard to get a good response to. Knowing the two leaders history was quite mellow, Badgerstar was almost certain that WindClan's leader would approve, the tom just needed to figure out what would be a good offer. He already knew that WindClan was never really in a battle with any Clan, but with it being greenleaf, he knew he could find some kind of promise to give.
Once the two had arrived at Fourtrees, Badgerstar sat down, beginning his speech. "I want to make an agreement with your clan, Brackenstar." Badgerstar started, "Because you know how ShadowClan has been winning in our 'war'." The tom mewed, "And I need a strong clan to fight with me." Badgerstar said, hinting towards the final sentence of his proposal. "I need WindClan to be ThunderClan's allie."

Brackenstar separated from his patrol after instructing them on what route to take and what to tell his deputy when they returned to camp. The long tom slunk along the Thunderpath, watching Badgerstar make the same trip, and after several minutes of silent striding they arrived at Fourtrees. The gathering place opened up before him, looking familiar but feeling somehow new - he had never entered the clearing outside of a Gathering.
Brackenstar convened with Badgerstar, and the ThunderClan leader wasted no time in getting down to business, for which Brackenstar was grateful. The spontaneous meeting made the tom uneasy, simply because Clans did not normally meet outside the Gathering in an amicable way. When Badgerstar explained his desire, however, it made sense and the WindClan tom felt a new type of apprehension.
"Ah, yes," Brackenstar rumbled in his deep voice, "your 'war'." He now sat, wrapping his tail around his paws, amber eyes a cool burn staring at the other leader. "I've noticed the tensions between you and Moonstar have been high for some time, and the Gatherings have been... less than hospitable." The last statement held a tone of annoyance.
"WindClan and ThunderClan have always been sympathetic to each other's causes, but I have no desire to cause ShadowClan to see WindClan as a threat," Brackenstar warned. "Surely you realize that."

Badgerstar nodded, "I understand," The male began, "but there will be no threat seen to ShadowClan in the end, for we will be alongside you." Badgerstar mewed, "If ThunderClan wins and you help, ShadowClan's cats will have no deal to be in your territory." the tom explained. "And that would be enough, I'm sure." he finished. Confident that the deal would work out, and that part of him was noticeable to all cats. Badgerstar was arrogant at times, but sometimes it went a little out of hand. He was afraid his cocky behavior may change Brackenstar's words, so he tried not to show it.

Brackenstar snorted softly. "You make a fair point," the tom admitted, though begrudgingly. He didn't want to involve himself or his Clan in the other Clans' ordeals, but ShadowClan and WindClan shared a border. Brackenstar and Moonstar had always gotten along fine, but if ShadowClan were angry enough to be at war with ThunderClan then who could guess what they might do to win? Besides that, Badgerstar seemed to have coming into the clearing knowing that Brackenstar would agree. The thought irked the WindClan leader.
"If the day comes that ThunderClan can't stand to the strength of ShadowClan, WindClan will remember all ThunderClan has done for them," Brackenstar promised, though the details of his promise seemed vague.

Badgerstar gave a final bow to the WindClan leader, "That's good to hear. I will send a patrol with myself included if there are any calls for help." Badgerstar gave a slight nod, signaling that the meeting between the two was finished. "I shall see you at the meeting if all goes well." He mewed as he turned around to run back to his camp with good news.

Brackenstar nodded absently along with the ThunderClan leader as the tom said his goodbyes, and Brackenstar mumbled a short, "Farewell, Badgerstar." The WindClan leader sat for several more moments before shaking her head and beginning the journey back to his Clan, wondering what sort of fate he had condemned them to. ((Thread is now closed!))
