Kestrelfang had been sleeping quietly in the warriors' den. He had been going through spurts of waking up and he couldn't help but stay awake, although his eyes imitated the effect that he were asleep. The sudden warmth of the sunlight hit his pelt, it revealed a much lighter black, which looked more like a gray now that it was in the spotlight of the sun. He flicked his tail, desperate to go to sleep once more as he had been tired from the previous patrol he had gone on which had been placed late at night. But it was no use, his eyes flew open and Kestrelfang was soon getting up from his snug nest. He had been hoping to sleep in longer, but that was obviously not working out too well for the tom.
The warrior sighed as he walked towards the fresh-kill pile, grabbing a skinny hare and beginning to guzzle his breakfast. It wasn't long before he had been disposing of the bones from the hare, discarding them into the ground and covering them with mire from his camp. Kestrelfang was waiting for a conversation to appear, for some cat to come up to him and get his life moving on. He was already uncomfortable, for sitting on cold and hard ground for a long time wasn't very agreeable for the young tom.

Petalwish woke to the sound of pawsteps. The sun had just shined into the warrior's den, and a few cats were waking up. One cat in particular had left the den, and the young warrior got to his paws and followed him out. On immediate sight, he recognized Kestralfang. For what could have been moons he just stood there, frozen, watching the warrior finish his meal and wait for the rest of the clan to start the day. Every muscle in his body told him to do that, but he couldn't. Every time he was around that tom, he felt nervous. Usually he blamed it on something else, such as something he ate or a need to help the clan, but now he saw it clearly. Every time a random spike a nervousness enveloped him, it was around him. His heart began beating frantically, but at the same time his mind yelled at him to go over and start a conversation. Taking a shaky step forward, he sighed, feeling dizzy from stress. Not for the first time, he realized how majestic the fluffy gray warrior's pelt seemed, well groomed and luscious, while not hiding his muscles. A smile came to his face as he remembered how valiantly he had protected him and Brackenstar from the dog, realizing how much admiration and... What would that feeling be called? Similar to affection, but not quite. Not a crush, could it be? They were both toms, and he had never heard of love in that sense. So despite all he felt, it couldn't be that. Still why did he feel the desperate need to get to know him while still not wanting to ever have to talk to him? No, he couldn't let fear hold him back from what he wanted to do so badly. Trying to control his shaking, he quickly padded over to the warrior's side. "G-good morning, Kestralfang. I, well, want to know how you're doing!" StarClan, he was pathetic. Why couldn't he just say hello without messing up? Petalwish folded his ears back sheepishly, waiting for Kestralfang to respond. Hopefully he would be able to say something to make this less awkward. Anything would make this less awkward at this point.

Kestrelfang spotted a shaky Petalwish coming towards him. The warrior didn't notice that the tom had been coming to talk to Kestrelfang, he had just supposed that Petalwish had come to pick up his breakfast any do no more. But, Kestrelfang was wrong. He noticed the toms nervous tone, beginning to roll his eyes with a smile. He hadn't sensed the toms nervousness to talk to him, but rather thought it was just something the other tom had been thinking about that made him speak in such away. "Well, my morning is going well, especially with you here." Kestrelfang mewed, completely oblivious to the fact that what he had just spoken out may sound a bit flirtatious to the receiving end. The warrior had only meant having company was nice, considering he was having a bad morning with zero sleep. He hadn't purred when he had said such a thing, but it wasn't like every single word a tom spoke when being trifled had to end with being imitative.
The WindClan warrior looked over to Petalwish, speaking comfortably around the tom, unlike his fellow clan-mate had been doing back to him. "As for you, Petalwish?" He mewed, a charming smile appearing onto his face.

"O-oh, thanks." Petalwish had abruptly stopped shaking the moment Kestralfang began speaking, now frozen still instead. Was that really true? A warm feeling flooded through him, and a rather dopey smile appeared on his face. Almost immediately, he did his best to hide it, trying to look pleasant rather than charmed. This had to be a crush, at least he thought so. Never before had he ever had a crush, she-cats never really having caught his eye. Really, the only time he had ever felt something at all like a crush before was a moment where Brackenstar had been looking particularly majestic. And around the warrior in front of him. Both of them were toms though, so why was this happening? Was it allowed? Maybe someone else knew. But he could not ask this tom. No, his heart rate would speed up until he exploded before he could even start that sentence. Realizing that he had yet to respond to the other WindClanner's question, he tried to formulate a response. But how was he supposed to think when faced with that enchanting smile? Well, he guessed that he just had to improvise. Taking a deep breath, he managed to steady his tone. "I'm doing fine. The weather sure is pleasant, isn't it? Nice and sunny!" Petalwish let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding in, full of self contempt. He was the only one who managed to make everything so awkward! Nobody else did that, even if faced with someone who happened to be extremely handsome. Which Kestralfang was. Still, that was no excuse. Hopefully the other warrior wouldn't notice. No, he wasn't stupid, so of course he would. Maybe they could just move on and pretend like it never was awkward.

Kestrelfang nodded, looking off and laughing slightly, "That's good, really good." He mewed, looking back towards Petalwish. "So, how have things been since the patrol?" Kestrelfang asked, "It was quite a scare, just making sure you were alright when the canine came out. Looking after you is something I enjoy." The warrior tittered, trying to make sense of how this nervous moment came for him. He wasn't very familiar with Petalwish, he never acted odd around him just felt...different. It wasn't like he had the courage to say anything that he wouldn't usually say. He wasn't very flirtatious around the male.Yet still having some nerve to get Petalwish red. But there was something about Petalwish that really got the tom going. Kestrelfang wasn't ever shy around the other tom, just a little bit more embarrassed and careful about what he said around the handsome Petalwish.
Kestrelfang began to mat his fur, making sure it looked clean as to somewhat impress the other WindClan tom. He had intentions of making the male impressed, not at all shy. "You really get quiet around me Petalwish, why is that?" He mewed, toying with Petalwish almost like playing with the toms emotions, but doing it in a controlled and flirty manner.

"Yeah, that patrol was a little scary. I'm fine now, of course. But I'm glad it ended well because of you." Petalwish spoke quickly so he wouldn't stutter, hoping that it sounded at least a little less nervous. Smiling, he realized that Kestralfang cared about him enough to ask. That was comforting, and gave him the smallest bit of confidence. Becoming good friends would be a step in the right direction, though he did long for something more than that. By now he had settled on calling it love, having no other words to call this longing and affection directed at the other tom. For once, his expression looked a bit brighter than usual, a bit of his normal shyness replaced by something new. His eyes widened when the other warrior began to groom his rich fur, and suddenly felt self-conscious about his own appearance. He hadn't given a thought about his own fur since he had waken up. Sneaking a look at his pelt, he realized with relief that it was mostly flat, just the fur on his fluffy tail that seemed to be sticking out everywhere. About to try to discretely flatten it out, the tom's next words hit his ears. Oh no, he had noticed. This was bad. Not wanting there to be an awkward pause, he knew he needed to answer right away. But what would he say? Just the truth, minus the love part. "W-well, um, I d-don't really know why. I-I guess I'm just quiet around most cats," Petalwish stammered, fur heating up with every word. While it wasn't exactly a lie, it wasn't the entire truth either. But he could not let Kestralfang know how specific this was to him, because that would be humiliating.

Kestrelfang smiled, tittering again and kind of wanting to make Petalwish a little surprised. So, he decided that he'd make a move that he had been kind of wanting to make for a little while, at least since the start of the conversation.
The male pulled himself closer to Petalwish, turning over towards the warrior and licking the toms cheek quickly. Keeping his head in the direction of Petalwish's, he began to speak almost as if he hadn't made such a bold action. "Really?" He mewed, sorta cocking his head away jokingly. He was obviously still playing with Petalwish, trying his best to keep his cool.

Petalwish shrank back slightly in surprise at Kestralfang's giggle, not exactly accustomed to flirting in the slightest. What was going on? The young warrior's heart was beating faster each second, but as scared as he was, at the same time he wanted this more than anything else. As the other tom Thin closer and closer to him, his eyes widened until they basically took up his entire face. This didn't make any sense, none of this did. His feelings didn't even make sense! When the warrior licked his cheek, his jaw must have hit the ground in surprise. A mix of affection and fear filled him, flowing through his entire body. He had heard love was never simple, and this was definitely the most complicated thing he had ever experienced. Looking back at the other tom, his eyes were full of surprise, contrasting the other WindClanner's expression. StarClan, he looked so irresistibly cute when he did that. "No?" Petalwish realized his answer sounded more like a question than Kestralfang's question had. "W-what just happened?" Now he at least had a little bit of confidence in how he felt. This was love. While he had never heard of love between two toms, he knew that was what this was.

Kestrelfang looked at the tom, winking at Petalwish. "Love at first sight, if you must say." The larger tom purred, wrapping his tail around Petalwish as he looked into the toms eyes with affection. It was something that the male probably didn't expect, judging by the actions of Petalwish.
The warrior looked around, looking off as he began to mew to his crush, Petalwish. "You know," Kestrelfang started, "you are really cute!" The male finished, bobbing his head in an adorable manner. "And if I were to define the word cute in any way, it would be you, Petalwish." The voice of Kestrelfang was deep and loving, showing a tender affection towards Petalwish.

"Love..." Petalwish repeated under his breath, glad that one of them had finally said it. He never would have been brave enough to do so. This time, he didn't feel quite as awkward when Kestralfang embraced him, actually enjoying the feeling of having the tom's tail wrapped around him. The look on his face must have been ridiculous, both shocked and delighted at once. On one paw, this felt so right, and as nervous as he was, he loved this. But part of him also felt underserving. Was he, a quiet, rather shabby, terrified tom at all worthy of someone this handsome and confident? When their eyes met, doubts began to slowly melt away. The love and affection their gazes held was too perfect not to be right. For some reason that he couldn't imagine, this warrior shared his feelings. A sincere smile spread across the small tom's face, unintentionally making his innocent expression seem more adorable. This was nice. Then the other tom kept speaking. Him, cute? How? His fur basically looked like dried up grass in his opinion, and he was too shy to ever do anything that might be considered cute. Unlike the other warrior, he was not at all what he would call attractive. Yet he seemed to think he was. And with his voice containing such passionate emotion and the way he bobbed his head made it impossible to insist otherwise. Losing his chance to just to hold this cat's compassion for at least a day or two was too much to risk. "Really?" Petalwish asked innocently, brown eyes widening and his smile growing larger. In a brief moment of confidence, he nuzzled Kestralfang's cheek tenderly. "How can you say that when you're so perfect?" A purr rumbled in the back of his throat, and this was probably the closest he had ever come to flirting. "You're handsome, brave, kind, everything I could ever want." Those words were spoken with such genuine affection that he wondered if he was going too far. As much as he loved the tom, it wasn't like they were anything close to mates. It was felt so natural, so right in his soul.

Kestrelfang looked towards Petalwish, "You saying that just makes you better..." The tom mewed, rubbing his face back to Petalwish. "And I do mean it." Kestrelfang mewed, "You are the single most perfect being in this world, and I will never forget that look in your eyes, Petalwish." The WindClan Warrior purred as he licked the other toms nose lightly. Kestrelfang began to think about his actions, how soon they were...but a question still lingered inside of him, and he almost felt like it needed to be asked, and soon.
The tom felt unsettled by his thoughts, shifting a little bit but still wanting to make Petalwish satisfied with their conversation. "I know it may be soon," Kestrelfang started, "and I don't know how you'll respond..." The male began once more, thinking of all the possible answers Petalwish would respond with. "But I think this friendship is too close to be considered just a friendship, and not a close one." Kestrelfang explained, holding his breath as he looked to the ground. "But I would like to ask if you want to become my mate." The tom explained, looking nervous which wasn't a look you got from Kestrelfang a lot. "I know that this is an odd sight for other cats..." He mewed, "But gender doesn't matter, only the love that grows between the two cats." Kestrelfang purred as he cuddled next to Petalwish. "So, what do you say?"
