The moor was known for becoming almost unbearably hot and muggy during greenleaf, especially right after a rainstorm in greenleaf. Brackenstar could practically feel the earth steaming as he rose from his nest and gave his tan coat a quick wash.
Brackenstar padded from his den and into the clearing of WindClan's camp. This had always been his home, but even after many moons it didn't feel the same after his brother's betrayal. Still, Brackenstar was leader, and his Clan was in need of some patrols.
The slender tom eyed camp, blinking sleep from his amber eyes. The sun had just peeked over the horizon, washing the world with a golden-red glow. Brackenstar waited for his Clanmates to wake.

Mallowdrop Thin out of the warriors den, spotting Brackenstar waiting in the clearing of camp. The she padded over to the leader, bowing towards him. "A lovely evening it is, Brackenstar." Mallowdrop mewed playfully. "WindClan is quite happy to have you as the leader, I must say. I have hope you'll lead us well." The she-cat purred as she circled Brackenstar.
The she looked around, hoping that another cat would join their conversation. Although, Mallowdrop wouldn't mind being alone with Brackenstar. With her having a distinct personality from most cats, it was well known that she was playfully smart, always flirting with every cat around her. She never had a mate before, but wasn't ever open to one. Her personality was well-spread, but she never really thought about it seriously. Her common traits were almost like a character she played...not her true self, almost.

Brackenstar's eyes were drawn immediately to movement as a cat exited the Warrior's den. He recognized Mallowdrop and gave her a pleasant smile, dipping his head as she addressed and approached him. "Hello, Mallowdrop, lovely evening indeed," he meowed in a deep tone, watching her.
He remembered when they were Warriors together; she had always been a bit flirtatious, but Brackenstar simply assumed he was too shy or withdrawn to appreciate such attention. The brown tom sat tall and somewhat unThin by her affectionate behavior. "Thank you for your vote of confidence," Brackenstar said, though his tone was genuine, "StarClan knows what this Clan means to us all. I will do my best to serve it and lead it to prosperity."

Mallowdrop looked at Brackenstar with wide eyes, he usually had been different when she had used that playful tone when they were younger. She shrugged to herself Maybe being leader changed him... she thought. She tried not to get too into the thought process, for when she was too herself too much, it ended up being something that was negative to herself. So, she shook it off. It wasn't like she really thought of Brackenstar as a crush...right? She shook the thought from her head again, hoping it would go away. Suddenly, she was nervous. Her cocky self was now gone and she felt like every cat around her could tell, but she wasn't sure. She began to gain color to her cheeks, looking away from the new leader stubbornly. "Uh, yeah..." the she mewed. Mallowdrop wasn't exactly sure why she said what she said, but, if it was something to get away from this topic, she was okay with it. Why am I being like this today? she thought angrily at herself. Her playfulness had turned shy, but now mad. It was confusing, especially for an outside cat like Brackenstar who didn't know what was going on in the she-cats head.

Brackenstar felt a small sense of confusion and concern when the mood between he and his Clanmate shifted. He blinked uncertainly and nodded slowly, allowing the awkward silence between them to drag on and not knowing what to do to stop it. Perhaps she had been hoping for the same flirtation in response, but he had never felt comfortable - especially not now that he was leader.
Finally, after several moments of silence, Brackenstar straightened his shoulders and meowed, "The fortunate thing about the recent weather is that all the prey will be out." 'The weather? How cliche,' he thought to himself. He cleared his throat and added, "I will be putting together our sun-down and moon-high patrols, but afterwards would you care to go for a hunt with me?" Maybe this would be a good opportunity to remind himself that things didn't need to be different.

Mallowdrop looked back at Brackenstar slowly, blinking with confusion. Was she taking his question the wrong way, or was he really meaning to give them time together was less public? She nodded her head, her eyes showing that his query was obviously confusing her. But she decided to bounce back to her own personality, becoming strong like she had been before. "Well, your offer is sweet, Brackenstar." Mallowdrop started, "And I think I must reply positively. That would be quite appreciated." The she winked at him, standing up and flicking her tail playfully as she began to almost circle him, looking for other cats that may care to join them by chatting.
