Dawnpaw sprinted into camp, panting. She had gotten away from the others as soon as possible. After all, she had a very urgent message to deliver to Brackenstar. Looking around the dark camp, Dawnpaw would have chuckled at dawn rising breaking through the sky if the situation wasn't so serious. Across from Dawnpaw, she spotted Brackenstar pacing around the camp. Dawnpaw ran as fast as she could over to her leader. "Brackenstar! I need to speak with you! I received a p-prohpecy!" [/i]Dawnpaw stuttered on the last word. She felt so strange. It was her first night as a Medicine Cat, yet she had already received a prophecy. Frostpaw surely had too. Was it just the apprentices? If so, why?
However, all of the questions were dwarfed by the memory of Taturataku. All of those nursery tales couldn't have prepared her enough for the real thing. And where had Goldensight been? What if she had been injured? What if the rogues had attacked Riverclan? All of these horrible thoughts made Dawnpaw want to cry. But she couldn't. She had to show strength. She was the closest thing her clan had to a Medicine Cat, and danger was coming. It was her duty to protect the clan and warn them of the coming dangers. And so Dawnpaw focussed at the task at hand once again.

The moon had drawn near the horizon now, warning of the dawn that was drawing near. Brackenstar had been unable to sleep since Dawnpaw, WindClan's only medicine cat - and only medicine cat apprentice, at that - left to gather with the other medicine cats for the half-moon. Having a medicine cat to share tongues with StarClan was vital to the health and safety of the Clan. StarClan frequently gave medicine cats hints and prophecies and visions to help guide their Clan through danger and unwellness. Without one, WindClan was weak. Brackenstar still recalled Eagleflight, their medicine cat who had been lost not many moons before, leaving them without such a safety net. His death and disappearance was suspected to be related to rogues, but no one knew for certain.
Brackenstar had paced the camp for the first long while, but even when exhaustion came and he tried to lay in his nest to sleep he still found himself unable to rest. The leader's mind was full of worries for the apprentice and his Clan and the rogues and the forest, and so he got up and continued to pace. This continued throughout the night, and the tom tried to force down his growing concerns that perhaps Dawnpaw - or maybe all of the medicine cats - had encountered rogues or other trouble on their way. However, when at last Brackenstar thought he would burst from the anxiety of waiting, a familiar pelt burst into camp. He barely had the chance to breathe "Thank StarClan!" when she raced over to him. His eyes shot wide when she mentioned a prophecy, but he raised his tail for silence and then swept her towards the medicine cat's den.
When the two of them entered, Brackenstar murmured, "Catch your breath. You can tell me when you've had a moment to recover. I'm glad you're home safe." |

Dawnpaw quickly rushed in after Brackenstar. "No time! Brackenstar, I ended up in the Dark Forest! Talk Taturatakued to me- I mean Taturataku talked to me! He said 'The puppetmaster will forever play his game and bring the forest to it's knees. Forever this will last, lest the Moon spills blood and faces the Reaper's door.' What even is the Reaper? What does it mean? Bah of course I should know, but I'm not a real medicine cat! What are puppets? You're the only one who trained me, and you're a leader- Wait... You're a leader... Moonstar! It has to do with Moonstar! Or maybe Moonkit of Thunderclan? No that makes no sense, they're just a kit!" Dawnpaw began pacing around the Medicine Den, rambling on about the prophecy. "Okay, so Moonstar is attacking someone? That's what the prophecy seems about... Okay, so we have a Puppetmaster, and I have no Idea who the Puppetmaster is, and Moonstar has to attack someone or the Puppetmaster will win? And then they face whoever the Reaper is! But the reaper sounds bad, and Moonstar can't fight two fights against bad powerful things! She only has two lives left! What if she dies?" Dawnpaw just then realized that Brackenstar probably didn't hear half of what she said. "Uh, did you any of catch that?"
